Miriam Albert, LPC
Miriam Albert is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alaska, offering tele-video therapy for clients 18 and older. She is passionate about working with underrepresented and marginalized groups, including ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, women, military families, first responders, immigrants, refugees, survivors of abuse, and other historically underserved populations.
Miriam specializes in treating acute and complex trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, shame, grief, addiction, and life adjustments. She also works with clients navigating major transitions, stress management, and relationship challenges. With every client, her priority is to build a safe, compassionate, and collaborative relationship rooted in trust. She works from a strong attachment-based framework, understanding that healing often begins within the therapeutic relationship. Her approach emphasizes emotional safety, deep empathy, and connection, guiding clients toward symptom reduction (and, when possible, elimination), increased self-awareness, and a greater sense of empowerment, joy, and meaning in life.
Miriam graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (minor in Biological Sciences) and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. She received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for her graduate-level performance and professional development. Trained in a vibrant U.S.–Mexico border community, she has worked with underserved and multicultural populations, gaining a deep understanding of the unique strengths and challenges they face.
In addition to her academic achievements, Miriam has collaborated with leading researchers, clinicians, trainers, and U.S. military professionals on prevention and intervention efforts promoting adjustment, resilience, and long-term behavioral change in at-risk populations.
Her therapeutic work integrates evidence-based and experiential modalities, including:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR; near certification)
Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Person-Centered Therapy
Mindfulness-based interventions
Her EMDR training includes a strong somatic orientation, using body awareness techniques to help clients process trauma and build emotional regulation skills. Through an attachment-informed lens, Miriam supports clients in understanding the roots of their emotional patterns, developing healthier ways of relating, and creating lasting changes that align with their values and goals.
Miriam is fluent in English and Spanish.
